The Nets and Clippers are apparently still fighting over the soul --and ample body-- of Glen "Big Baby" Davis, Adrian Wojnarowski reports. The Nets hope to sign a 14th man by end of the weekend, league sources tell NetsDaily.

Woj's tweet would seem to indicate others soliciting his services are out of it. Various reports suggested that both the Bulls and Warriors, who the Nets play Saturday night, are interested in him.

One of the Nets big weapons in the battle is Kevin Garnett, who Paul Pierce said is pushing "Big Baby" to join his ex-Boston teammates in Brooklyn.

One reason the Nets would like to get it done soon is that no matter who is signed --Davis, Jason Collins or someone else-- the Nets have two days off Monday and Tuesday before playing Portland on Wednesday. That would give the new player some time to get integrated into the Nets offensive and defensive systems. No doubt, that's also appealing to the players being considered. The Nets will fly out of Oakland late Saturday for Sunday's evening game vs. the Lakers, rest on Monday, then fly Tuesday to Portland.

The Nets retained the rights to Bojan Bogdanovic at the trade deadline and he may have signaled real interest in the NBA by hiring a top agent. And for him, most importantly, his recent slump appears over. Bogdanovic scored 17 points to lead Fenerbahce over Anadolu Efes, another Istanbul squad, in Euroleague play.

Bogdanovic was 7-of-13 from the floor, including 2-of-7 from deep, in the win. Efes made a strong start but Fenerbahce pulled away in the final quarter led by the Croatian Bogdanovic and Linas Kleiza. Each collected five rebounds apiece. The win kept Fener's chances of advancing to the Final Four alive.

In the last two games, Bogdanovic has raised his three point shooting in the Euroleague Round of 16 from five to 11 percent , this after shooting 40 percent in the 10-game regular season.

The 6'8" swingman recently hired Arn Tellem, the NBA's top agent, to rep him in dealings with NBA teams, a point confirmed in a retweet Saturday by Matt Tellem, Arn's son ... and Basketball Information Coordinator in the Nets front office. The news has to be considered positive for the Nets who are likely to be locked in a tough competition for his services this summer.

On the other hand, Jonathan Givony of Draft Express tweets Saturday that Bogdanovic has a new European agent too and he also reps Zeljko Obradovic, Fener's coach.

Meanwhile, the other Nets prospect on Fener, Ilkan Karaman, is getting ready to make his season debut and has posted Instragam video of him practicing dunks, like this one Saturday.
Adonis Thomas is on his way to Orlando to sign a 10-day, his days as a Nets project over, at least for now. Devin Ebanks, acquired in a trade Friday, has yet to arrive, but the Armor won again Friday night with Willie Reed and Khalif Wyatt playing their best D-League games. Springfield beat the Santa Cruz Warriors, 97-80, just down the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco where the Nets are staying.

Reed, the athletic 6'10" 23-year-old who has to be a candidate for the Nets 13th man, finished with 20 points and 20 rebounds, the second 20-20 game of his career. Reed, known for his #CallWillieUp hashtag, was 9-of-19. His rebound total was divided equally between offensive and defensive boards.

But Wyatt electrified the crowd, scoring 23 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, including five three-pointers as the Armor won their seventh game out of the last 10. The Armor are now 13-20 under head coach Doug Overton and GM Milton Lee, who's restocked the team over the past three weeks. Darius Johnson-Odom, another of the D-League's top prospects, finished with 16.

It was the second straight game the Armor defense held the Warriors to 80 points, a rarity in the D-League.

The Santa Cruz offense relied on Seth Curry in the early going as the Duke product accounted for the first seven Warrior points, but the Armor defense was in full force, holding the Warriors to just 16 first-quarter points to take a 23-16 edge into the second.

After falling into a one-point deficit following a 14-6 Santa Cruz run, Springfield closed out the half by outscoring the Warriors 13-10 for a 42-40 advantage at intermission. Johnson-Odom led the Armor offense with 11 points, while Reed pulled down 11 boards to go along with eight first-half points.

Curry continued to lead the home team with 12 points at the break, but the Warriors’ shooting struggles continued as the team shot just 31 percent from the floor in the first half, following a 35 percent performance from the field last night.

The third quarter belonged to Santa Cruz’s Daniel Nwaelele as the former Air Force guard posted nine points on 4-of-4 shooting in the frame to help the Warriors grab a 67-65 lead entering the fourth quarter. Reed added 10 points in the third to eclipse double-double numbers before the final period, but six free throws by the Warriors helped put the Armor in a two-point hole with 12 minutes to play.

The Armor had yet to win a game when entering the fourth quarter behind on the scoreboard. That was until Wyatt got his hands on the ball. The former Temple Owl, acquired via trade with Reno earlier in the week, dropped 23 points in the stanza to lead the Springfield comeback. The Armor went on to outscore Santa Cruz 32-13 in the frame to complete the two-game sweep with a 97-80 victory.

Curry’s 21 points led the Warriors, but Santa Cruz combined to shoot 34.5 percent from the floor and just 20.0 percent from long range (5-of-25).

The Armor will wrap up their Pacific Rim stint with a 10:00 p.m. EST tip against former head coach Bob MacKinnon and the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Monday in L.A.

Glen Davis has officially been bought out by the Orlando Magic, which makes him an unrestricted free agent. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported yesterday that the Clippers are expected to pursue Davis hard, but the Nets are also interested. Davis has ties to both clubs: he played for Clippers coach Doc Rivers and is former teammates of Nets' players Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. All three of the aforementioned men won the 2008 championship with Davis in Boston.

Clearly, Garnett and Davis have kept in touch because Woj reports that KG is expected to recruit "Big Baby" hard to play for Brooklyn.

The Nets could use another big man to fill out the rotation and Davis can be that man. Davis is 6'9" and spreads the floor well. He can compliment Garnett on the floor while still being considered a "small" team. Davis, though, doesn't present a rebound presence that the Nets seem to lack. Davis is averaging six rebounds per game this season in 45 games this season for the Orlando Magic.

The Armor, like their parent club, are on the West Coast and facing the affiliates of teams the Nets will face. On Thursday, the day before the Nets play the Golden State Warriors, the Armor played the Santa Cruz Warriors and came away with a win, their sixth in the last nine games.

With the Nets having freed up a roster spot Wednesday, several of the Armor may be candidates for call-up, particularly the team's big men. If the Nets plan any workouts of Armor players, it shouldn't be difficult. The Armor is staying in San Jose, the Nets in San Francisco.

Once again, it was Darius Johnson-Odom and Adonis Thomas leading the way, this time scoring 49 between them. DJO finished with 28, including three three-pointers, and 12 assists. Thomas, playing more than 45 minutes again, finished with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Springfield's 6'10" center Willie Reed finished 13 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks. Seth Curry, the brother of Steph, played poorly while guarded by DJO. He shot 3-of-18, including 1-of-9 from three to end with 10 points

Devin Ebanks, the D-League's top forward with averages of 24.1 and 8.9, has yet to join the club on its western swing. At 6'9" (and a Fort Greene, Brooklyn native), Ebanks could get a shot before the season's over.

Johnson-Odom showed no signs of jet lag in the first quarter, tallying nine points, including the final four of the frame, to go along with four assists as the Armor took a 26-24 lead into the second quarter. Springfield struggled from beyond the arc, connecting on just 2-of-7 attempts, but the defense held Santa Cruz to just two shots from deep, both misses. Also in the first quarter, Armor forward Thomas was called for the first technical foul flopping penalty, a rule instituted by the NBA D-League on Wednesday.

Thomas caught fire in the second, leading all scorers in the stanza with eight points to help Springfield extend its lead to five at intermission. Thomas and Johnson-Odom combined for 27 points at the break as the Memphis product led all scorers with 14.

On Santa Cruz’s side, Dominic McGuire was the lone scorer in double figures with 10 points through the first 24 minutes, but the Warriors bench kept the home team close with a 17-5 edge over Springfield’s reserves.

Springfield dominated in the third quarter, outscoring Santa Cruz 29-18 by holding the Warriors to just 29 percent shooting from the field while the Armor offense hit 56 percent of its shots in the period. The big men aided the offensive effort as Jeff Foote and Reed combined for 15 points with Reed grabbing eight boards, seven of which on the defensive glass as Santa Cruz missed 15 shots in the frame.

Three minutes into the fourth quarter and the Warriors finally connected on their first trey of the night, but the Armor continued to keep Santa Cruz in a double figure deficit for most of the frame. The Warriors cut Springfield’s lead into single digits with two minutes to play, but the Armor responded by scoring the final six points of the game to salt away the 14-point win down the final stretch.

ESPN is reporting that the Brooklyn Nets have worked out free-agent big man Jason Collins in Los Angeles and are considering signing him to a 10-day contract.

According to Ohn Youngmisuk and Marc Stein:

Sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com that the Nets, after letting Thursday's trade deadline pass without a deal for the Los Angeles Lakers' Jordan Hill, are weighing the addition of another big man and have identified Collins as a prime candidate to join their frontcourt rotation via the 10-day route.

They note that there has been no decision made on signing Collins, and also mention that if the Nets do sign Collins he will be the NBA's first "active openly gay player."

Nets GM Billy King reiterated on a conference call with the media that the team is looking to add a big man in the free agent market.

Bottom line for the Nets, said King: "We’re going to bring in a basketball player," he said. "It’s not about marketing or anything like that. If we’re bringing somebody in, we’re bringing them in because we feel they can help our basketball team."

in addition to Collins, the Nets are expected to look at Ivan Johnson, the former Atlanta center just back from China; Glen "Big Baby" Davis, who's being bought by the Magic; and Devin Ebanks, the D-League's top forward now with the Armor.

The NBA Trade Deadline has come and gone, and, well, it was surely a quiet one for the most part. In fact, the biggest deal may have come as the Brooklyn Nets traded Jason Terry and Reggie Evans to the Sacramento Kings for Marcus Thornton.

Yup, that was possibly the biggest deal at the deadline, depending on who you ask.

What didn't happen, however, was a trade between the Nets and Los Angeles Lakers that would send Jordan Hill to Brooklyn for what would have amounted to a salary dump, where the Nets were reported to have used their Disabled Player Exception. The Lakers, though, late in the game wanted a second round draft pick and the Nets weren't willing to offer up a pick for Hill.

Here's the bottom line for the Nets..

Traded two contracts few thought could be moved, those of Terry and Evans, 36 and 33 years old. Both had a year beyond this one to run;

Acquired a healthy 26-year-old wing with a reputation for hot shooting streaks whose recent troubles they think can be cured by a change of address;

Retained the rights to Bojan Bogdanovic, who they can either sign in the summer or dangle as a trade asset;

Opened two roster spots which they can fill with 10-day deals, vets minimum deals or if the need to, contracts.

Let the NBA know that Mikhail Prokhorov is still willing to spend, adding nearly $3 million in salary and luxury taxes in the Thornton deal and approving an attempt to acquire Hill, which would have had added $17 million to his tax bill (and didn't have to spend it!)

Retained until March 10 their DPE. So, there is some room for the Nets to make a deal of sorts. We'll just have to wait and see.

What's next? Don't be surprised if the Nets start scouring the waiver wire for players who've been dropped as part of the deadline fallout. Another possibility: the Nets could bring up some of the Armor prospects for look-sees, including Darius Johnson-Odom, Adonis Thomas and Devin Ebanks.

...Or they could surprise us.

For now, vote in our poll below and let us know how you think the Nets did at the trade deadline, and make sure to consider the circumstances.
