Good news, Nets fans. According to Deron Williams, his ankles are feeling much better and, in fact, they "don't hurt."

While speaking with the media today, Williams updated them on his ankles saying that they finally got the cortisone shots in the "right place," which is... good to hear.

From Mike Mazzeo of ESPN:

"We finally got the injections in the right spot, and they feel a little bit better. I can actually walk up and down stairs and run around with my kids. I can go to the playground with them. I don't have to hurt every time I take a single step. So, yeah, I feel a lot better. I can dunk."

Wait, what? That's... amazing.

For Williams, who has yet to dunk in a game this season, while he says that he can dunk, he's not quite sure he's ready to. He's, well, "nervous" about attempting a dunk. That's understandable, I suppose.

Look, a bucket is a bucket, so whether he lays it in or dunks it, the takeaway is that he feels better and that his ankles "don't hurt."

In other Williams-related news, he did speak to P.J. Carlesimo, according to Stefan Bondy, about shortening his halftime speeches, allowing the team to have extra time to get warmed up before the third quarter. This, in an attempt to correct their third quarter woes.

While it was a thoughtful attempt by Williams, the shortening of the halftime speech "didn't work."

"It didn’t really work," Williams said. "I just think it’s a mentality. Teams come out and I think they know we’ve struggled in thrid quarters and they come at us a little bit tougher and we’ve gotta do a better job of responding and fighting back."

In order for the Nets to really make a push at the Atlantic title they do have to figure out how to get over that third quarter struggle. Maybe the shortening of the halftime speech didn't work, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be searching for some other solution.

21 turnovers, poor shooting, and maybe a little fatigue doom the Nets in Chicago.

Tonight, a Noche Latina look at the Nets' loss to Los Bulls.

Zéro - Number of combined points from Reggie Evans, Keith Bogans, MarShon Brooks and Kris Humphries in tonight's game.

Dos - Los Bulls aren't a great home team this season. Coming in, they were 16-14 at home and 17-11 on the road. However, the Nets played in Brooklyn last night and had to take the ojo rojo into Chicago. The younger, more athletic Bulls were ready for them.

Seis - The Nets' new ranking in the Eastern Conference as Los Bulls passed them with the victory.

Ocho - The number of points starting PF Reggie Evans has scored in the last seven games. That's in 21:19 per game - a total amount of 2:29:16. That's two-and-a-half hours of court time.

Ocho - The number of points All-Star Brook Lopez scored in the last three quarters of tonight's game. He was the only Net to shoot over 50%, so more shots may have been warranted. Lopez wound up with 22 points after a strong start. He did not attempt a single shot in the second quarter.

Ocho - The difference in Los Bulls' shooting percentage (52%) and the Nets' shooting percentage (44%). Deron Williams went 4-12 after coming in hot.

Once - The lead the Nets had 8 minutes into the game.

Catorce - The number of points by which the Nets were outscored in the second quarter. They wound up losing by 11.

Veintiuno - Los Turnovers. Lots of them.

The Nets now have three days off before they play the Bobcats in Charlotte Thursday. Williams, Joe Johnson and Gerald Wallace all look like they could use a few days to recuperate. Could Coach Carlesimo use that time to evaluate players and make some changes in his rotations? There have been some signs in the past few games - Mirza Teletovic getting minutes, Lopez playing with Andray Blatche for a short time tonight - that something may be happening on that front.

Whether there are changes or players simply improve with rest, the Nets are sliding down the standings and will be looking to get back on the winning track before their division and conference foes get too far away.

The Nets are now a half-game ahead of the Bulls in the standings and a loss Saturday could drop them into sixth -- and six games back of the Knicks in the loss column. Not a good place to be, particularly with the Celtics rising.

After Friday night's frustrating (there's that word again) loss, the Nets need a bounce back game in the worst way Saturday night in Chicago. The Bulls are not likely to cooperate. Although Taj Gibson is out, Luol Deng is uncertain and there's no timetable for Derrick Rose, they still play defense and they still have Joakim Noah, who had a monster game Thursday vs. the 76ers: 23 points, 21 rebounds and 11 blocks.

Offensively, the Bulls have problems. They are 28th in the league in offense and before beating Philly (not a tough assignment), they had lost three straight and seven of their last 10. Even in that win over the Sixers, the Bulls shot 38.6 percent from the floor, and just 21.3 percent from the 3-point arc.

For the Nets, they have good nights and bad nights, nights with good chemistry and bad, as P.J. Carlesimo tries to put together winning combinations. While Deron Williams has played well, perhaps his best all season, he has had trouble handling the ball, averaging better than four turnovers since the break, with a season high of seven vs. the Mavericks.

Will Reggie Evans start again? It's likely because with Noah underneath, the Nets are going to need a counterpunch. Expect more minutes for Mirza Teletovic in any event. Also, Joe Johnson is likely to shake off some of the rust from his three game layoff.
