Does Morrow want back with the Nets? Sure sounds like it.

Anthony Morrow was always enthused about the Nets move to Brooklyn. As it got close, he spoke about how he hoped to commit a lot of time to community events in the borough and thought things would get better for the team once they made the shift from Newark to Brooklyn.

Then, he was traded to Atlanta in the Joe Johnson deal. While the Hawks played closer to his home in Charlotte, he didn't get the opportunities and he got hurt, as he had during his time with the Nets. Last month, he was traded to the Mavericks and on the occasion of his first visit to Barclays Center, he seemed ready to ask Billy King for a job next season.

First there were the tweets...starting a month ago, while he was still in Atlanta, Morrow retweeted a number of Nets fans tweets wishing he was still with the Nets or would sign with them in the off-season. Then, on arrival at Barclays, he tweeted about how it was built for basketball and shooters. (Like Deron Williams, he had complained about sightlines at Prudential Center.)

Then, the pre-game interviews where he said all the right things, telling Tim Bontemps, "I think it’s unbelievable." He added, "It’s crazy … nothing else looks like this. You see all the screens and everything like that … I haven’t seen all the little clubs and everything, but this is crazy. It’s got a nice home feel to it. It fits right in with Brooklyn."

Ben Couch talked to him as well. "It's nice, man," he said. "I like how it has almost that Madison Square Garden feel, that dark in the background [while] the court is light ... I haven't heard one person say that it's overrated. It was everything it was advertised to be."

Bottom line for Morrow, ""It’s just a good feeling to feel wanted … I had that feeling here in Jersey." He's an unrestricted free agent this summer.

BROOKLYN - The good news tonight for the Brooklyn Nets was that they had Joe Johnson back in the lineup, after he missed the last three games with plantar fasciitis. The bad news, his return wasn't nearly enough, as the Nets played a sloppy game, turning the ball over 19 times (to just 18 assists) and letting the Mavs give themselves enough of a cushion to pull away late.

A poor, poor third quarter performance by the entire team, top to bottom, did the Nets in. And despite a late run, It was too little, too late. The final result, a 98-90 loss.

With Dirk Nowitzki healthy, and Dallas coming off a tough loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in which they were simply embarrassed for an entire half of basketball, the Mavericks put the Nets on their heels early, working the inside-outside game and pushing the pace any chance they could get. It wasn't until late in the quarter when the Mavs rotated in bench that the Nets were able to get the game back to a slower, more comfortable pace.

After one, the Nets trailed 22-21 -- having turned the ball over six times in the quarter.

Nowitzki found his rhythm in the second quarter, hitting back-to-back jumpers, and as the Nets cheated to double he twice hit Elton Brand in the post for easy lay-ins.

For the Nets, it was Andray Blatche who carried the offense. From step-out jumpers to strong fake-and-drives, Blatche scored eight second-quarter points.

Deron Williams had 17 first-half points, but that was accompanied by five turnovers. The Nets, at the half, led 49-48.

The Nets were working on another sub-par third quarter, shooting 29.4 percent from the floor and scoring 14 points -- to Dallas' 29 points. The story, turnovers. Nets had five of them in the quarter, which coupled with a disastrous shooting performance, essentially ended the game after three quarters.

From there it was all Dallas, pulling ahead by 19 points while the Nets continued to cough the ball up to the point where the Brooklyn fans went pretty hard with the 'boos.' The Nets made a nice run in the fourth, but the mountain was just too much to climb. It's difficult to overcome a 20-point deficit, let alone to do so in under 12 minutes of play.

Vince Carter scored 20 points off the bench, while Nowitzki matched him with 20 points of his own.

D-Will had a game-high 24 points, while Mirza Teletovic scored five points in the fourth quarter.

And there you have it, Nets fans. Stefan Bondy, who caught the ire of some Nets fans on Wednesday night for, essentially, "not asking P.J. Carlesimo the right questions" in regard to Mirza Teletovic and his lack of playing time, did indeed take the time to speak to P.J. specifically about Mirza, asking him "all the Mirza questions... for you fans."

In this piece Bondy really does -- as he generally always does -- ask the right questions, getting down to it and finding out why it is that P.J. doesn't call Mirza's number despite the fact that he's "playing well." Point does also go to the fans who really did take an interest in wanting to know why P.J. wasn't giving Mirza a look.

The highlights:

PJ said he's gonna make Mitza a priority going forward, sees him as a mismatch (good and bad) on both ends of the floor

There's much more to it, and I highly suggest you read it, but in essence P.J. said that he will evaluate Mirza (but probably not over the next two games) and make him a priority, which I imagine is good news for some of the fans out there.

For Reggie Evans its been a long and winding road, to say the least. He's played on six teams in his 11-year NBA career, and is now with, of course, the Brooklyn Nets as the team's starting power forward.

There's no question that Evans has had his ups and downs, and that he continues to spark a bit of a debate among Nets fans as to whether or not he should play as significant of a role as he currently does in P.J. Carlesimo's rotation.

One thing's for sure, though, there are few players in this league who hustle, intimidate and rebound as well as Evans does.

ESPN's Jared Zwerling took the time to sit down with Evans and reflect on his 11-year career, talking about his days in Seattle and bringing us forward, to the present day, as the Nets' starting power forward.

For all the slack he's gotten lately from certain Nets fans about his impact on this team -- whether it be warranted or not -- Evans continues to be motivated to help this team win a championship and do what he needs to do when his number is called. He's by no means a perfect player, but there are very few times, if any, where you can get on the guy for "not trying." No matter the situation.

Which leads me to my favorite quote from this piece:

When your career wraps up, how do you want to be remembered?

I only want to be remembered as a guy who just went hard, who respected the game, who respected his peers who was before his time and never took days off practice and games. And a guy who worked hard, and a guy who came in the league and carved his own lane to where a lot of coaches tell their players like, "Hey, we want you to play like Reggie Evans."

That's what Evans is all about; going hard. Most teams would be so lucky to have a guy like that.

If things had worked out differently, Deron Williams might be wearing the black and blue of the Dallas Mavericks Friday night, being booed by Brooklyn Nets fans and facing ... Goran Dragic. Whew!

That's if the Mavericks hadn't low-balled D-Will and offered him $70 million (rather than $75 million they could have), which was $30 million less than the Nets; if Mark Cuban had decided to woo D-Will instead of spending the day taping a crucial episode of "Shark Tank;" or if Dirk Nowitzki, self-professed good friend of Williams, had flown in for the recruiting session. It was almost as if the Mavericks really didn't want Williams, just the right to call "sour grapes!" a month later.

Cuban has famously trashed Mikhail Prokhorov for out spending him and dissing Deron Williams. Most recently suggested the Lakers amnesty Kobe Bryant, reserving for himself the role of Seer of the new CBA, the only judicious man in the NBA. Meanwhile, his team is seven games under .500, has lost three straight and has virtually no chance of making the playoffs. His star player has expressed fear that Cuban's strategy is based only on "hope." Not to worry, the Mavs owner says the "Bank of Cuban" is "open for business" this summer. Dare we say Mr. Shark Tank has jumped the Shark?

Whatever. The Dallas beat writers are playing the game as a way for the Mavericks to get back at D-Will. Since they were so invested in his return home, why not? On a nostalgic note, Vince Carter will finally get to see the arena he and Jason Kidd (who also spurned Cuban) so famously promoted while with the Nets.

Speaking of the Nets, they expect the Joe Johnson to be back, but not aren't yet certain. Even if not, P.J. Carlesimo says D-Will is moving better than he has all year and has the numbers to prove it. MarShon Brooks is expected to play as well, but sat out Thursday's practice. Jerry Stackhouse is unlikely to play (personal reasons) and Toko Shengelia is in Springfield, where he, too, will play Friday night alongside Kris Joseph and Willie Reed.
