Would the Nets move Jeremy Lin?

Jeff Griffith-USA TODAY Sports

In Zach Lowe’s latest, he speculates about a potential trade between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets and Brooklyn Nets. Lowe discusses how the Denver Nuggets have inquired about Kyrie Irving, and how they might use the Nets in a three-team deal.

According to Lowe, Jeremy Lin would be the centerpiece heading to Cleveland to play with LeBron James.

That theoretical Denver package doesn't net LeBron a traditional point guard ready to handle as much of the heavy lifting as Irving has. The Nuggets could rope in Brooklyn for a three-team trade in which Cleveland would receive Jeremy Lin, Chandler, Harris, and a pick -- with the Nets gobbling up unwanted money, including Shumpert, for draft assets. Denver might keep Murray in this scenario, but they'd have to send out picks.

However, Lowe says it would be difficult for Kenny Atkinson to let go of Jeremy Lin and how the Nets would like to see the backcourt duo of Lin and Russell.

There have been no rumblings yet about Lin, or the Nets' participation as a third wheel in any Irving deal, league sources say. The bond between Kenny Atkinson, Brooklyn's coach, and Lin runs deep, and the Nets want to see how D'Angelo Russell looks next to Lin.

In another section, Lowe says Lin could be a lynchpin in a deal involving the Timberwolves.

Lin could be the lever that activates three-team deals here, too, with Brooklyn extracting draft picks to absorb Cole Aldrich and perhaps one other small salary. Minnesota has only 11 players under contract, meaning a 3-for-1 deal would leave them with half a roster. Maybe that is Tom Thibodeau’s fever dream, so that he can play everyone 40-plus minutes.

This, of course, would indicate that Jeremy Lin is not untouchable. Caris LeVert and D’Angelo Russell are the only “untouchable” Nets, according to league sources. (In fact, Russell can’t be traded until August 22 anyway ... Unless it’s in a one-for-one deal).

The Nets have been reluctant to go after free agents this summer despite having the most cap space in the league. It appears they’re waiting for the right deal to come along. Or they can save for next summer where very few teams have space.

For right now it’s only speculation, but it’s something to keep in mind as Cleveland tries to strike a deal involving Kyrie Irving.

Eventually. But it's too early.

Depends on the offer

For two quality picks or one pick and a nice young player, you have to consider.

No!!!!

Why are we still a dump? Sometimes draft picks aren’t even worth it! We finally have a good backcourt and we’re going to ruin it by helping other teams get better? I rather keep the cap and try again next year bc I’m tired of being a dump, both those teams are going to be great and we’re going to be stuck with draft picks in the high 20. Horrible trade.

"Horrible trade"

There isn’t even a real trade proposed and the only aspect of this fake trade that you know of is Nets dealing Lin.

Maybe save the outrage for when something legitimate is reported?

Or just go crazy now.

All of the above suggestions are bad for the nets

He is reacting to the article and how zach lowe paints the nets as a good pawn to move a starter on a good contract … For next to nothing.

The fact that this blog is even promoting such a short-sighted dumb move is reason enough to be annoyed.

They won't get any free agents next year either. They can only improve by making these trades.

that I disagree with

they won’t get 1st or 2nd tier free agents for sure, but with so many teams strapped for cash they can still get something good next year for less money than taking a salary dump like the ones being reported. Especially since some of the dumps are for late 1st round picks which in my opinion isn’t worth it

They can’t improve by continuing to collect draft picks who may not develop due to lack of player leadership/guidance and occasional wins. You must not have been around when teh team went 1-27 with Lin not playing.

For a price I would say

but hard to see that happening.

I like Nets getting Kanter in a Melo trade to OKC, one of the picks from DWill trade.

Another part also from the Lowe article says Lin could "be the lever" if Minnesota made a move for Irving

I don't think

Zach Lowe speculation leads to "This, of course, would indicate that Jeremy Lin is not untouchable"

Last I saw Zach didn’t work for the Nets. He’s playing with a trade machine the same as half the board. Even if the Nuggets were trying to put it together it doesn’t mean the Nets are on board.

Woj doesn't work for the Lakers

And his "speculation" about Russell attached to Mozgov going to Brooklyn wasn’t just playing with a trade machine.

If Lowe says something, he should be taken seriously in general. Lowe is as plugged in as Woj or anyone else.

Exactly.

When these guys say something you listen.

Ian Eagle stated…"Marks might have something up his sleeve."

You’re probably the type of guy who’s quite amazed by the "accuracy" of your horoscopes aren’t you? lol

There's a difference between Lowe's speculation

and Wojs sources.

It’s not even a rumor as far as I can tell. Just speculation.

Lowe is plugged into the NBA.

Don’t dismiss it.

Lowe does not even know how to plug in to charge his laptop. He didn't break one trade.

Question:

Let me guess, you are a Lin fan?

A Lin fan would want him traded to the Cavs.

Lin playing with Lebron for one season to help take down the Warriors is a better scenario than trying to be an eighth seed in the East.

In that case Lin’s playoff prediction will come true. He will certainly be going to the playoffs with Lebron. Nobody is indispensible. The NBA is a business and anyone can be traded.

Yes lin on the cavs would be a lin fans dream

Hed be a starter in the ecf or finals…. Maybe even get to ride on the banana boat.

But these scenerios suck for the nets.

AS a Lin Fan, I thought about that..

Say, somehow, it was a straight up replacement, Lin for Kyrie. With the rest of the roster the same, who would you start?
One knock on Kyrie was that he could not expand leads with LeBron off the floor. Consider Lin’s win/loss history with the Nets and the Hornets. OK, I am a Lin fan, but I think he could do better than that. And Hornet Lin beat LeBron (with Kemba out) in one of their games (I bet LeBron remembers). Now, every team can get hot or cold, but still…
Well, like winning the lottery, fun to think about….

Question

Let me guess, you still trolling Lin fans?

Why would I do that?

I am a fan of Nets and want the best for them.

That’s all.

I have nothing against Lin.
