NBA Live Thread: Brooklyn Nets at New Orleans Pelicans, 8:00 PM ET

Brooklyn kicks off the new year in NOLA.

NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Pelicans Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

New Year, new Nets? We’ll see. The end of 2023 wasn’t kind to them — to say the least — battling injury, low fan morale, and most importantly a three-game losing streak that’s set Brooklyn off its path.

It won’t be an easy one, but perhaps the new calendar year will help them find whatever it is that they need.

WHO: Brooklyn Nets (15-18) at New Orleans Pelicans (19-14)

WHEN: 8:00 PM ET

WHERE: YES Network (TV); WFAN-FM (Radio)

From our game preview...

Injuries: No Ben Simmons. Lonnie Walker IV has been making progress, but won’t be back tonight. Maybe Wednesday vs. Houston? Dorian Finney-Smith is probable with left knee soreness.

Trey Murphy III is questionable with left knee soreness. Matt Ryan is out following right elbow surgery.

The Game: Brandon Ingram keeps keeping on. The former and future All Star leads the team in scoring at 23 a night and is one of the most proficient operators in the midrange area. As it happens, BI is a tremendous finisher at the rim and shoots 73.6 percent when he’s down there. Against great players like Ingram, you have to pick your poison.
