Brooklyn Nets marketing team goes for moon shot in pairing Cam Johnson with Neil DeGrasse Tyson

It is indeed the collaboration you didn’t think you needed

The Brooklyn Nets marketing team is top of the class in the NBA, turning out witty tweets, Instagram posts and tons of video, like the The Bridge: All‑Access whose latest edition is out today...

T-shirt designs too...

But they outdid themselves last week when they set up a meeting between Cam Johnson, who is big fan of space ... learned even ... and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson of the American Museum of Natural History. It was a master stroke... a space draft ... conducted at the AMNH and memorialized across Nets social media...

It was a good time for the 27-year-old ...

“I have a side hobby of that field where I just enjoy it,” Johnson told The Post. “And so, our team — our marketing group — wanted to see where we could make some things happen with that. And that was one option, opportunity that came up; and boom.”

Brian Lewis noted some of the moments in the “Space Draft” specifically where Johnson tried to get the best of Tyson, like the subject of Pluto, the most distant object in the solar system. Knowing that Tyson had exiled the tiny world from his solar system exhibit at the museum, calling it merely an “icy body,” a “dwarf planet.” CJ “drafted” it,

“I did troll him with Pluto. I trolled him because he gives Pluto no credit. I’m going to defend Pluto’s honor,” Johnson said. “But the thing is, if you classify Pluto as a planet, you’ve got to classify a lot of other icy rocks out there as planets. So I see where he’s coming from.”
