The Brooklyn Nets will take on the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday night, their fourth of six straight home games, and a chance to notch a season-high four-game winning streak. A win would also bring the black-and-white to 10-8; they haven’t reached two games over .500 yet this season. Prior to tip-off, Jacque Vaughn discussed the return of Cam Thomas, as well as the ongoing rehab of Dennis Smith Jr. and Ben Simmons.

Q: What sort of adjustments are made when re-inserting a player [in Cam Thomas] that’s going to be that important?
JV: “I think those adjustments get made throughout the course of the year, just because you have injuries and setbacks along the way. I’ll always continue to have conversations with guys to reinforce where they are, what their minutes look like. It will affect dudes who have been playing, that’s just the way it is. That’s what we signed up for in team basketball. And so some guys minutes will be affected, some of their shots will be affected, but if you come into the game with the ultimate goal of winning the game and being part of a team, then you understand that.”
Q: Any Injury Update on Dennis Smith Jr?
JV: “Yeah he’s [Smith Jr.] ramping up. He’s getting close to being back on the floor for us. I think overall, you always hear me say I want the athlete to be mentally and physically ready to play when he gets back on the court. Dennis is trending definitely still towards that direction, no setbacks, and hopefully we’ll see him soon.”
Q: Any Injury Update on Ben Simmons?
JV: “We’re gonna give you something on Saturday, probably, overall of where Ben is at. He has been included in all our meetings, film, and all that stuff. We’ll give you something on Saturday about what he’s been doing on the court.”
