Special episode of the Glue Guys today. I created a narrative episode on Kevin Durant’s final season with the Golden State Warriors, looking at the miscommunication issues that led up to Durant and the Warriors decision to allow KD to play in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, where he ultimately tore his right Achilles tendon.
I am joined by The Athletic’s Ethan Strauss to help tell the story of that season. Ethan has covered the Warriors for several seasons, and has released a book this year about the Curry Warriors called The Victory Machine: The Making and Unmaking of the Warriors Dynasty.
The original intent of this episode was to be Part 1 in a three-part series focused on Durant’s Achilles injury and his recovery. Since we now know that KD won’t be back until December (hopefully), we are releasing this episode now and will get to a deeper dive into Achilles injuries and recoveries later this year. I hope you enjoy, and next week Brian and I will be back to our normal discussion of all things Chris Chiozza.
