And so the post-Kenny Atkinson period begins.

After the Nets announced on Saturday morning that they were parting ways with Kenny Atkinson, they now turn their attention to pick up a much-needed win over the Chicago Bulls on Sunday afternoon.

The Jacque Vaughn era begins with the Nets sitting in 7th place in the East, a half game ahead of the 8th-place Magic.

Here. We. Go.

WHO: Brooklyn Nets (28-34) vs. Chicago Bulls (21-42)

Game Preview

The Bulls have lost 12 of the last 14 including a defeat Friday night to the Pacers, which guaranteed a third straight losing season. Their fan base, which has been calling for the firing of virtually everyone who collects a check must be jealous of their Nets counterparts.

Of course, like the Nets, the Bulls have had a hard time with injuries but things are getting better despite the record. Lauri Markkanen, Otto Porter Jr. and Wendell Carter Jr. are back, but on minutes restrictions. Carter admits he’s winded running up and down the court.

“It’s almost like we’re in preseason with some of these lineups and situations,” head coach Jim Boylen said after Friday’s loss. “It’s difficult. I don’t know if you can miss that much time and just come back and be where you were. I don’t think it works like that.”
