It may have been the easiest layup of his career. A slam dunk actually. For a couple of hours Wednesday night, Kevin Durant decided to engage a few Knicks fans on Twitter.
The top —and outcome— was predictable. Knicks fans derided the 10-time All-Star for choosing the “irrelevant” Nets over their favorites, who reputably own New York. KD helped them understand the game of basketball.

Bottom line for KD...
The reality is that you wanted me to do what You wanted me to do. I didn’t and now you feel some weird way about it. Get over yourself bro, i know u got a lil platform but come out the clouds. It’s not real

Tierney is not some random Knicks fan, of course. He’s a CBS Sports radio “personality.”
In addition to calling the Nets irrelevant and posting that they own New York, the fans of the Madison Square Garden Company claimed Durant was “soft,” and didn’t have the guts to play in the NBA’s oldest arena, forgetting to note that he owns two NBA rings, two Finals MVPs, an Olympic and FIBA World Cup gold medal.
Never be the Knicks? One would hope not...

At the end of the day, it’s still not at the end of the day. Durant isn’t expected to play this year and the Knicks aren’t expected, period.
