The Nets revealed Wednesday that Kyrie Irving suffered a facial fracture and is day-to-day. The Nets released a medical update Wednesday afternoon. Irving was struck by a teammate’s errant elbow during a Tuesday scrimmage at the HSS Training Center.

This is the third time in the last seven years that Kyrie Irving has broken a bone in his face. He broke his jaw in 2012 and had a minor facial fracture in 2017. In 2012, Irving missed 11 games due to the broken jaw. In 2017, he didn’t miss a game. In both instances, Irving wore a mask.

“Day-to-day” is often used by the Nets to describe uncertain returns.
