Liberty look to beat the Dream in Atlanta

One more on the good side. After a tough loss to the Minnesota Lynx last weekend, the New York Liberty came home to face a Dallas Wings team that had won three out of their last four games. It was a close game throughout but NY snuck into the win column with a one point victory on Friday night.

The opponent today will be the Atlanta Dream. It's been a rough season for the ATL as they possess the worst record in the league. They've been off for a week after losing to the Washington Mystics at home last Sunday.

Where to follow the game

This one's an NBA League Pass affair. Tip off after 3 p.m.

Injuries

Tanisha Wright missed Friday's game. No word on her availability today. The FIBA European Women’s tournament is still denying the Nets their point guard Bria Hartley and center Amanda Zuhai B.

Angel McCourtney is out with a knee injury while Alex Bentley is competing in Eurobasket.

The game

In about a few hours, things will permanently change for Joe Tsai's other basketball team. Stay tuned to the site as we give you all the news you need to know.

The landscape of the Atlanta sports scene has been something that has fascinated me for a long time, and over at Swish Appeal, Cat Ariail discussed how the Dream fit within the city:

The Dream ownership has not fallen prey to the promises of an idealized and suburbanized fanbase. The organization rightly welcomes the majority black fans who appreciate the skills and styles of the women athletes who suit up for the squad.

Tina Charles will have her hands full on the inside today. Elizabeth Williams is fifth in the W in blocks, averaging close to two a night. Charles' shot still isn't there, but she's made up for it by being one of the best rebounders in the league so far this season.

Will Liberty principal owner (and Nets minority owner) Joe Tsai be on hand? If he is, that would suggest he’s in the recruiting mix for Nets free agency.

Player to watch: Tiffany Hayes

The Dream have been pushing for Hayes to make it to the All Star Game, and for good reason. The eight year veteran is the team's best player and reached a nifty milestone as she crossed the 3,000 point plateau. Hayes is the team's best scorer and passer so look for her to exert her influence on this one.

It promises to be another all day affair for Kia Nurse. Nurse is third in the league in minutes, averaging close to 33 a night. Having Nurse out there helps stabilize the Liberty attack and gives them a player that can create her own shot.

Jam session

A super deep cut for Outkast fans on this Sunday
