Live Game Thread: Brooklyn Nets at New York Knicks, 6:00 PM EST

NBA: New York Knicks at Philadelphia 76ers Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The last time the Nets and Knicks played each other was back on October 25th, as the Nets, led by Kyrie Irving’s 26 points, beat the Knicks 113-109. That seemed like so, so long ago.

Irving is out on Sunday night against the Knicks, and so too is Caris LeVert. But, the Nets are on a 2-game win streak and the Knicks are, well, 4-12.

WHO: Brooklyn Nets (7-8) at New York Knicks (4-12)

Game Preview

As a free agent acquisition, you could do a lot worse than Julius Randle. Randle started to find his niche as a bullyball 4/5 that could lead a fastbreak when he signed a three year deal with the Knicks over the summer. The numbers aren’t there yet and it made for an awkward fit with Mitchell Robinson, but Randle is a good player and he’ll be fine long term.

Jarrett Allen will be wrestling with Randle on the boards. For Allen, the biggest thing for him is staying on the court for as long as possible. Too often he commits silly fouls which gets him saddled to the bench. Randle is getting to the foul line less than usual this year, but he still presents an interesting challenge to Allen.
