After five weeks recovering from a separated shoulder, Dzanan Musa picked up where he left off, dominating the G League in the Long Island Nets 135-127 victory over the Texas Legends in Dallas. It was the conference-leading Nets’ 20th win.
In 25 minutes, the Nets first round pick scored 20 points, handed out eight assists, grabbed four rebounds and went to the line nine times without missing. Musa separated his left shoulder in a G League game December 16.
Here’s his highlights, including some nifty passing.
After falling behind early, the Nets simply dominated with 51 points in the third quarter (not a typo) going from a five point halftime deficit to a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter.
Musa wasn’t the only Nets with a 20-point game. Alan Williams, aka Mr Double Double, finished with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
Drew Gordon went for 23 points and 10 rebounds while Kamari Murphy, another big, also recorded a double-double with 12 and 10. Other Nets in double-doubles: the newest Net, 6’2” Indiana product Kevin Olekaibe, had 14 points on 4-of-10 shooting from deep. Shannon Scott finished an assist short of a double-double with 17 and nine. And Jordan McLaughlin, also back from an injury, finished with 13 points and a +17 +/- rating.
Okaro White, Thomas Wimbush and Tahjere McCall were all inactive.
Gary Trent Jr., the Blazers shooting guard on assignment with the Legends, led all scorers with 37 points.
