Your Brooklyn Nets Pick Stash

The hits just keep on coming. With Friday’s trade of Darrell Arthur for Jared Dudley and protected second round pick in 2021, the Nets now have both first and second round picks through the next SIX drafts, through 2024. The last time that could be said? Well, the answer might as well be “forever.” It could be when Rod Thorn handed the GM reins to Billy King in 2010. In that draft, the Nets had two firsts and a second, which they turned into two firsts on Draft Night.

Here’s what it looks like now...

2019 DRAFT

First Round

—Their own pick

—Denver’s pick, protected 1-12, acquired in the Kenneth Faried/Darrell Arthur trade. If not conveyed rolls over every year with same protections through 2024. If not conveyed by then, it becomes second rounders in 2025 and 2026.

Second Round

Pacers pick protected 45-60, acquired in the Caris LeVert trade. Only conveys if Pacers fall into Draft lottery. If not conveyed, it rolls over every year through 2023 when it becomes unprotected

Knicks pick, unprotected, acquired in the Nik Stauskas/Jahlil Okafor trade.

2020 DRAFT

First Round

—Their own pick

Second Round

—Denver’s pick, unprotected, acquired in the Kenneth Faried/Darrell Arthur trade.

—Portland’s pick, protected 31-55, acquired in the Jeremy Lin trade. Heavily protected, the pick would only convey if the Blazers finished with a top five record in the NBA. That is unlikely.

2021 DRAFT

First Round

—Their own pick.

Second Round

—Phoenix’s pick protected 31-35, acquired in the Jared Dudley trade

2022 DRAFT

First Round

—Their own pick

Second Round

—Their own pick

2023 DRAFT

First Round

—Their own pick

Second Round

—Nets and Hawks may swap picks if Nets draft position is better than the Hawks. And as noted above, if the Pacers don’t fall out of the playoffs between 2019 and 2022, that pick becomes unprotected this Draft.

2024 DRAFT

First round

—Their own pick

Second round

—Their own pick

In 2025, the Nets will have to give their second round pick to Atlanta, the last payment for Jeremy Lin. The player taken with that pick is likely in a grammar school gym, aged 12 or so.
