Spencer Dinwiddie shows off cooking skills on The Rachael Ray Show

They don’t call him “The Hood Chef” for nothin’

The Rachael Ray Show

They call him “The Mayor” on the court, but he’s “The Hood Chef” once he enters the kitchen.

Spencer Dinwiddie is having one of the best year’s of his life both on and off the court. He’s averaging career-high’s in basically every statistical category and most recently, he was featured on The Rachael Ray Show to show off his cooking skills.

Watch the preview:

In the episode, “The Hood Chef” cooks his own Citrus-Lime Steak Quesadillas and Pico de Gallo, and sticks around to help Rachael cook Chicken Soft Tacos with Salsa Verde.

In talking with Rachael, Spencer ties cooking and basketball together in this own philosophical way.

“I think the creativity of basketball and food tie together seamlessly,” he said. “You can get in the kitchen, you can go off-script a little, and cook off feel. It’s very similar to a play in basketball, when you see an opening and you try to take advantage of it.”

Rachael always says that “the way to anyone’s heart is through their stomach,” so she asks Spencer if his cooking skills have helped him at all in the dating department.

“I can’t reveal all those secrets, but they haven’t failed me yet,” he told her.

It seems to have worked. Aside from the accolades on the court and recognition off the court, Dinwiddie and girlfriend Arielle Roberson, sister of Andre, are officially expecting a baby.

All good stuff for Dinwiddie, who was also featured on MTV’s “Wild’N Out” and will compete in the NBA’s Skill Competition Saturday night, 8 p.m. ET.

He will appear on The Rachael Ray show this Wednesday at 10 a.m. on ABC 7.
