Alan Williams has another monster game as Long Island beats Capital City

Long Island Nets

One night after Alan Williams posted 28 points and 21 rebounds in the Long Island Nets win over the Wisconsin Herd, he came up with 37 points and 16 rebounds Saturday to lead L.I. to a 131-117 win over the Capital City Go-Go in Washington.

With Dzanan Musa out with a shoulder separation, Jordan McLaughlin out with a strained hamstring and Theo Pinson playing extended minutes for Brooklyn, the Nets scoring burden fell to the 6’8”, 261-pound center. He finished 16-of-23 from the floor. For the second time in two games, Williams hit a three pointer, going 1-of-2 from deep in both games.

The game was close in the first half, with the Nets down one, 60-59. But Long Island blew out Capital City, 42-22, then coasted home, getting past a final gasp from the Go-Go in the fourth. Williams scored 16 of the Nets 42 points in the third.

In addition to the UCSB product, Long Island had six players in double figures, led by Thomas Wimbush, the 6’7” small forward now in his second season in Uniondale. Wimbush also had double double, 23 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 11-of-14 from the line. Another vet, 6’5” shooting guard Tahjere McCall, had 22.

Mitch Creek, Shannon Scott, Kamari Murphy and Nuni Omot also finished in double figures. Devin Robinson, a 6’8” forward on a two-way from the Wizards, had 33 for the Go-Go.

The Nets shot a season-high 53 percent overall.
