Three Long Island Nets score 20 plus, but Lakeland Magic take game 130-124.

Despite 20-point games from three players —including a season-high from sixth man Jordan McLauglin— the Long Island Nets (7-3) lost to the Lakeland Magic 130-124 Sunday. It was the Nets’ first home loss and their first loss on the YES Network.

McLaughlin came off the bench and scored 29 points, handed out five assists, stole the ball three times and grabbed two boards in 24 minutes. The 6’1” USC product hit all nine of his free throws and shot 9-of-12 from the floor.

Here’s some highlights...

Mitch Creek scored 24 points, shooting 10-of-15 from the floor, and grabbed four boards. Dzanan Musa had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Theo Pinson had a season-high nine assists to go with 19 points and seven rebounds. Alan Williams continued his dominance on the boards, finishing with 14. He had another double-double, his seventh in eight games, scoring 10 points, all in 26 minutes.

Lakeland was led by two-way guard Troy Caupain, who scored 28 points to go with nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Orlando two-way forward/center Amile Jefferson registered a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds along with four assists, a steal and a block.

The Nets and Magic went went back-and-forth in the first with five lead changes ultimately ending in a two-point lead for the Nets.

After five lead changes again in the second quarter, Lakeland would take a six-point lead at halftime by a score of 57-51.

Then, Lakeland added to their lead in the third with a 38-point quarter, ending the period with a commanding 95-81 lead, rising to 102-85 with 10 minutes left. The Nets battled back in the fourth, cutting the lead to as little as four, but the comeback fell just short as Musa and Williams fouled out.

The Nets next play Tuesday in Long Island vs. Wisconsin ... at 11 a.m.
