The Long Island Nets (11-4) returned to Nassau Coliseum Wednesday and defeated the Windy City Bulls (5-12), 103-89, on Wednesday for their third consecutive victory. Each of the Nets Big Three finished with a double-double.
Brooklyn two-way guard/forward Theo Pinson fell one rebound shy of a triple-double, recording 13 points, a career-high 10 assists, nine rebounds and a steal. Brooklyn guard/forward Dzanan Musa registered his third double-double with 17 points and a career-high-tying 13 rebounds while on assignment with Long Island. Alan Williams, the G League leader in double-doubles. finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Nets guard/forward Mitch Creek led the team with 25 points to go along with three rebounds, an assist and a steal. And Jordan McLaughlin put up 18 points and handed out nine assists on 7-of-12 from field and 4-of-6 from 3.
A back-and-forth first quarter resulted in a 27-27 tie heading into the second. Windy City center JaKarr Sampson led the way with 12 points in the opening period alone to go along with three rebounds.
The Nets never trailed after an Alan Williams layup with 8:51 to play in the second quarter whidh put Long Island ahead. Long Island outscored Windy City 23-19 in the second period, carrying a 50-46 lead going into halftime.
In the third, the Nets began to pull away, scoring 29 points in the quarter and extending the lead to 14, 79-65, going into the final period. Two Nets starters, Musa and Williams their registered double-doubles before the fourth quarter began. The 89 points scored by Windy City were the fewest points the Nets have given up this season.
Windy City center JaKarr Simpson led all scorers with 29 points to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and a block. Bulls guard Walt Lemon Jr. posted a double-double with 18 points and 12 assists, along with five rebounds and two steals.
