The South Bay Lakers (15-10) defeated the Long Island Nets (14-11) 117-97 Thursday in Game 11 of the NBA G-League Showcase 2018. The Showcase is as his name connotes, an audition for players on all 26 G-League teams. It is also a gathering of NBA GM’s, their last face-to-face before the February 8 trade deadline.

The Lakers never trailed during the matchup and led by as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter. South Bay shot 52.5 percent from the field, 50.0 percent from three-point range and forced 28 Nets turnovers for 31 points to earn the wire-to-wire victory.

Thomas Bryant, the 20-year-old center on assignment from L.A., scored a game-high 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for South Bay while teammate ex-Knick Travis Wear scored 16 points and grabbed 12 boards for a double-double. An ex-Laker Vander Blue scored 12 points and had a game-high six assists.

On the Nets’ side, Tahjere McCall, noted for his defense, scored a team-high 18 points off the bench to go along with his six rebounds and four assists while Kamari Murphy led Long Island on the defensive end with 10 rebounds. The Nets were without Prince Ibeh, who’s out with a thumb injury, and Milton Doyle, who continues with Brooklyn as a two-way player. The Nets other two-way, Jacob Wiley, did not play.

Long Island will face the Oklahoma City Blue on Friday, Jan. 12 at 4:00 p.m. ET on Facebook Live.
