Long Island Nets set to hold open tryouts on September 30

Long Island Nets

The Brooklyn Nets G League affiliate, Long Island Nets, will hold an open tryout to any local ballers looking to turn their dream into a reality. The tryouts are being held on September 30, 9 a.m. at LIU Post in Brookhaven. The fee is $150 to tryout.

Players will compete in drills and scrimmages in front of Brooklyn Nets and Long Island Nets basketball operations personnel for the chance to earn an invitation to LI Nets training camp in late October.

Players interested in participating in the tryout can download registration and waiver forms online at longislandnets.com. All tryout participants must be eligible to play in the NBA G League.

Last year, Brentwood native J.J. Moore tried out and turned out to be a wonderful success story. Moore played a key role for Long Island in its inaugural season — playing in 46 games while receiving a summer league invite with the Brooklyn Nets.

“I went in there and gave it my all. No weakness. No backing down. I just kept going,” Moore told NetsDaily about the tryout.

“J.J. is who we want to be. We want guys like that,” LI Nets head coach Ronald Nored told NetsDaily. “Guys that are willing to get outside and help other people. Not only that, but work hard and be the best they can be.”

Use J.J.’s story as inspiration if you’re somebody that might want to take their game to the next level.

Hey, you never know.
