In two FIBA friendly games in Russia Friday and Saturday, Timofey Mozgov led the home team to easy wins over Hungary and Germany, scoring 35 points on 12-of-15 shooting ... but didn’t take any three pointers.

On Friday, Mozgov scored 20 points on 7-of-8 shooting overall and 6-of-8 at the line, as Russia beat Hungary, 84-69. He played 23 minutes and did not take a three pointer. Mozgov dominated early, scoring 10 points in the first six minutes as the Hungarians couldn’t deal with his length and bulk.

Similarly on Saturday, Mozgov had his way with Germany —and NBA draft pick Isaiah Hartenstein. In 21 minutes, the 7’1”, 275-pound Mozgov finished with 15 points on 5-of-7 overall and 5-of-6 from the line. He played 21 minutes but again no three’s. Hartenstein, who was taken by the Rockets in the second round, played 10 minutes, fouled out and did not score.

Both games were played in Kazan, Russia.

Mozgov has said Kenny Atkinson has asked him to work on his three-point shooting this summer and he’s been seen shooting three’s in Team Russia practices. But so far, he’s played in the post in the FIBA friendlies. In two previous friendlies, he scored a total of 12 points.
