Jan Vesely, the 6'11" Czech big man whose NBA career was best known for the passionate kiss he gave his girlfriend on Draft Night 2011, has garnered the Nets interest, according to Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.

Scotto reports that the Nets, 76ers and Mavericks “have expressed interest” in the now 27-year-old big man.

Vesely has played the last three years in Turkey and this month was a big part of Fenerbahce’s championship run in the Euroleague.

The Nets had scouts at several of his games this season. The presumption was that they were there to watch Milos Teodosic.. No doubt, the primary interest is in the CSKA point guard, but the Nets have reportedly had interest in Vesely before. Last year, a Turkish reporter said the Nets, 76ers and Pelicans were interested. Vesely signed a three-year deal with Fener instead. The contract reportedly has NBA “outs” after each of the first two years.

As Scotto reports...

“Vesely was an All-EuroLeague First Team member in 2016, including EuroLeague MVP for the month of January. Vesely averaged 12 points, 6.8 rebounds and one block per game in EuroLeague competition.

“With the NBA transitioning to more of a small-ball approach than ever before, Vesely can earn a second chance in the league and play center.”

He is an athletic 5, but doesn’t have three point range and is a poor free throw shooter, with a career percentage of 51.7 in the Euroleague. In three NBA seasons, he shot only 42.3 percent from the stripe ... and averaged 3.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 15.2 minutes over 162 games.
