Nets, Bulls, Raptors interested in Amir Johnson

NBA: Preseason-Brooklyn Nets at Boston Celtics Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

Ian Begley of ESPN New York reports that Nets are among three teams interested in unrestricted free agent, Amir Johnson, the 6’9” power forward who played last season for the Celtics.

Suitors for free agent big man Amir Johnson include the Chicago Bulls, Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets, league sources told ESPN. Johnson, an unrestricted free agent, played six seasons in Toronto before playing his last two in Boston, establishing himself in both spots as a tireless worker, on-court leader and strong rebounder. The 30-year-old averaged 6.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 20 minutes per game last season for the Celtics. Free agency begins at 12:01 on Saturday.

Johnson was paid $12 million last season. He’s 30 years old. The Nets, under GM Billy King, had interest in Johnson at various points.
