Sean Marks and Kenny Atkinson opened up D’Angelo Russell and Timofey Mozgov’s press conference by thanking Brook Lopez for all that he’s done for the organization.
Marks had the floor with his opening statement:
“Before I get started on D’Angelo and Timofey, I’d like to say thanks on behalf of Kenny and myself, ownership and the entire organization for everything Brook [Lopez] has done. Obviously these guys wouldn’t be up here if we hadn’t made the trade, so we’d like to thank Brook and his family for all the tireless effort on and off the court. They’ve been a part of our community and family for a long time.”
And then Kenny Atkinson:
“I’d like to second that. First of all I’d like to talk about Brook and how much I enjoyed coaching him. For my first year as a head coach, he was a joy to coach, I loved being around him, he’s an all-time Net. I thought he had a great season. That being said, I’d like to welcome D’Angelo and Timmy.
The Nets even took a full page out of the New York Daily News to thank Lopez.
