Thursday should provide an interesting workout for the Nets and the prospects they’ve invited to the HSS Training Center. Just don’t expect much, if any, news out of it.
According to reports, mainly by Adam Zagoria of Zags Blog, Hamidou Diallo of Kentucky, Tyler Dorsey of Oregon and Josh Hart are all in. They’re all shooting guards and the latter two are likely to supply a challenge for the 18-year-old Diallo. Both are seniors and have Final Four experience.
There will be others in the mix as well but the Nets don’t announce who’s been invited. Caleb Swanigan was supposed to work out Thursday as well, but according to Zagoria, he was actually in Brooklyn on Wednesday. It’s not unusual for teams and prospects to juggle schedules.
Here’s what we know so far about workout candidates, with their Draft Express profiles attached, and the schedule, as best we can determine...
Tuesday, May 16
—Rawle Alkins, a 6’4” shooting guard from Arizona (and Brooklyn)
—Kobi Simmons, a 6’5” point guard, also from Arizona
—Omer Yurtseven, a 7’0” center/power forward from North Carolina State
—Melo Trimble, a 6’4” shooting guard from Maryland
—Amida Brimah, a 7’0” center from UConn
—Davon Reed, a 6’6” swingman from Miami
Wednesday, May 17
—Caleb Swanigan, 6’9” power forward from Purdue
Thursday, May 18
—Hamidou Diallo, 6’5” shooting guard from Kentucky (and Queens)
—Tyler Dorsey, a 6’4” shooting guard from Oregon
—Josh Hart, a 6’6” shooting guard from Villanova
Tuesday, June 6
—Antonius Cleveland, a 6’6” shooting guard from Southeast Missouri State
We will update the list whenever we get new information. So far,, only Diallo is listed as a first round candidate and there’s obviously a lot of divided opinion on where he will go, if indeed he stays in the Draft. He and Alkins have yet to hire an agent so they can decide to return to school.
