As of Thursday, the Nets have the 22nd, 26th, 44th and 56th pick in the draft.
1) Indiana, Miami and Chicago are in a three-way tie for the 7th and 8th seeds. Due to tiebreakers, Indy will be out of the playoffs.
Each team has four games left. Chicago has the easiest schedule left. Miami the hardest. Indy is ok. For Indiana to miss the playoffs, all the teams just have to go 2-2 the rest of the way. In any timebreaker scenario with those three teams, Indiana loses out.
2) Cleveland win last night gives them a two game lead over Boston with four to go. This probably assures that the Nets will get the 26th pick as part of the swap.
3) The Washington pick is still up for grabs. It can be anywhere from 21st-25th. Right now, it’s 22nd. It will all depend at what Oklahoma City, LA Clippers, Toronto and Washington do these last four games.
The Nets also have $3.425 million in cash considerations to purchase a pick, if they choose.
Ties among teams that finish the 2016-17 NBA regular season with identical records are broken through random drawings on April 13, the day after the regular season ends. Playoff seeding does NOT play a role in draft order.
