Long Island Nets end losing streak, win on the road in Iowa

Seven Long Island Nets players scored in double figures and three posted a double-double for the Nets on the evening as Brooklyn’s D-League broke a four-game winning streak in Iowa, beating the Energy, 109-101.

J.J. Moore, who’s been the team’s glue guy, all season led the Nets with 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting from the field. The 6’6” Long Island native also put up seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Boris Dallo, the Nets’ 6’6” point guard, finished with 17 points, five rebounds and seven assists, and Trahson Burrell had a typical game: 12, 5 and 5.

Three Nets finished with double-doubles: Cliff Alexander (14 points, 13 rebounds), Egidijus Mockevicius (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Portland Trailblazers’ assignee Tim Quarterman (11 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. It was second straight big game for the 6’10” Mockevicius. who had 13 and 18 in the Nets last game.

For the second straight game, R.J. Hunter, the Nets leading scorer, did not play. The team provided no information on his absence.

The Energy (9-28) fell behind early and were unable to make up ground. Iowa led on three separate occasions in the first quarter for a total of 25 seconds, with their last advantage of the game coming at the 9:35 mark in the first.

Wayne Selden Jr. led the way offensively for Iowa, recording a team-high 23 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field.
