Chris McCullough got back on track, scoring 23 points and grabbing eight boards, and Trahson Burrell now fully recovered from a leg injury returned to early season form with 20 points and seven assists as Long Island beat Windy City, 117-109.

After scoring 37 points vs. Greensboro on January 12, McCullough had games of 14, 11 and 18, shooting less than 50 percent in each. On Wednesday, he hit 9-of-16, including 2-of-4 from deep. He’s now averaging 19 and eight for Long Island in 25 games.

Isaiah Whitehead tweeted out a picture of him at Barclays supporting McCullough.

Burrell, the hyper athletic swingman from Memphis, had one of his staff-stuffing performances and shot 7-of-11 overall on his way to his third 20-point game of the season. In addition, J.J. Moore, the Rutgers product who’s become the team’s most reliable scorer, had 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and Boris Dallo, the 6’6” French point guard, had eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Cliff Alexander, acquired Tuesday night in a trade, did not play while the team’s other addition. R.J. Hunter hit 3-of-6 three pointers from beyond the arc.

The young Nets and Bulls had 10 lead changes and six ties, but Long Island led most of the second half. The Nets shot 39 percent from deep.

Denzel Valentine, the Bulls first round draft pick, finished with a game-high 27 points to go with 10 boards and five assists.
