SCENES: Nets practice, smile for the cameras in Mexico City

Brooklyn Nets

If you haven’t heard, the Brooklyn Nets are taking over Mexico.

Well, okay, Nets have two “home” games in Mexico City, Thursday, December 7 against the Thunder at 10 p.m., and Saturday, December 9 against the Heat at 6 p.m., both Eastern Times.

The NBA —U.S. and Mexican— have been very active as a result, showing the Nets a lot of love in their journey south of the border.

But before even heading out there, the Nets, in the persons of Caris LeVert and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, challenged the Club America Aguilas (Eagles) to take the ‘#NBAImpossibleShot.’

The Aguilas accepted the challenge.

The Nets landed in and arrived in Mexico early Tuesday evening.

And while Hollis-Jefferson, DeMarre Carroll and Trevor Booker arrived in style, with the help of designer bags, rookie center Jarrett Allen came with a box (of a video game system?), his own kind of style.

Allen is the rest of us.

LeVert also briefly checked in from the NBA account.

Late last night, the NBA posted another Nets update, checking in with Carroll, Spencer Dinwiddie, Sean Kilpatrick and Hollis-Jefferson, who asks that you say ‘hola’ to him if you watch this video and run into him in Mexico this week.

And here’s Allen Crabbe (probably before he learned he had been fined for throwing a ball at the basketball stanchion in Atlanta. Perfect strike by the way ... hit the camera! We expect no less from Allen.

And Kenny Atkinson proved that all that time he spent in Europe has newfound value...

The Nets also helped out at a local school running a clinic and helping spruce up the place.

But the big news of Wednesday was this video from a Mexican journalist: first video of D’Angelo Russell in a practice jersey moving around, taking some shots.

No news on when he will be back, but it’s always encouraging to see an injured player improving, in Brooklyn or Mexico City.
