Milton Doyle had another big game for the Long Island Nets Thursday, scoring 29 points and hitting five three pointers as the Nets G-League affiliate defeated the Salt Lake City Stars, 108-94, at Nassau Coliseum.
Long Island is now 11-5, having won eight of their last 10. Salt Lake City, the Jazz affiliate, is now 3-13.
Doyle finished with the game-high 29 points along with nine rebounds and five assists in 39 minutes. He has led the Nets in points in exactly half of the team’s 16 contests. Doyle shot .556 (5-of-9) from 3-point range and .563 (9-of-16) overall in the win.
In the last ten games, the 6’4” Chicago native, is averaging 23.6 points, mainly on the strength of his 3- point shooting. He’s hit 46.7 percent of his three’s over that stretch.
Isaiah Whitehead, currently on assignment with Long Island, added 16 points and four assists in 30 minutes, while wingmen Thomas Wimbush and J.J. Moore had 15 and 13 respectively and shooting guard Jeremy Senglin finished with 12 all off the bench.
The Nets trailed 40-39 at the half and outscored the Stars by just two in the third quarter to take a one-point lead heading into the fourth. The home team then notched 37 points in the fourth quarter, with 13 from Doyle, to earn the 14-point victory.
For Salt Lake City, guard Deonte Burton had a team-high 18 points, five rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes. Long Island held the visitors to 37.4 percent shooting from the field and 33.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc in the win.
The Nets play their next game on the road against the Lakeland Magic on Saturday, December 16, at 7 p.m. ET, while the Stars will play the Maine Red Claws on the road in their next contest also on Saturday, December 16, at 5 p.m. MT.
