Scenes from a practice: Back to Work

The day after Opening Night —and the unfortunate end of Jeremy Lin’s season— some of the Nets players who will have to step up in his absence stayed a while after the conclusion of a long practice.

Their time is coming, and they know it.

Today, not much happening after practice. The Nets ran long, focusing on defense, which Kenny Atkinson said he’d discuss tomorrow. Today was about Lin.

Isaiah Whitehead, ostensibly the Nets third-string point guard, was one of two inactives last night – the other being late addition Tyler Zeller.

Both spent a significant amount of time shooting … and shooting … after practice. Whitehead saw a lot of minutes after Lin’s hamstring injury last season, making this a familiar situation. Of course, the Nets are much deeper this time around with the additions of D’Angelo Russell, Allen Crabbe, DeMarre Carroll, and the development of Spencer Dinwiddie.

Here’s today’s scenes... starting with Whitehead and Zeller

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, who nailed a perfect 8-for-8 on free throws, kept working on his form, near the beautiful view of the New York skyline as well.

A couple of jumpers from Whitehead, who took a lot from the corners.

More of Whitehead’s shooting workout. He starts at the near corner and makes his way around.

Tyler Zeller also joined the three-party.

From a distance, we have Sean Kilpatrick, who is looking to stay sharp from the perimeter. And we also got an appearance by first-round pick Jarrett Allen. Neither played last night, either.

And finally, some light work from the top of the key by Whitehead, as Kilpatrick hits a runner off in the distance.
