It’s taken a while but the area around Barclays Center is finally developing into the sports- and food -themed neighborhood.

The Commercial Observer reports that “Kings Town,” a sports bar, will open in April at 166 Flatbush Avenue, across from Barclays Center. That’s the space between Shake Shack and True Religion.

The CO reports on what to expect from Kings Town, which has its own website...

A new sports-themed gastro pub called Kings Town with a 5,000-square-rooftop bar. The location will be a place for hardcore sports fans (with private rooms for draft nights), but it will not alienate the casual sportswatcher because it will serve an array of drinks and have a new American restaurant.

Private rooms for Draft nights?!? With booze to help us forget the pain?!? Named King’s?!? We’re there!

Not that long ago, the area across Flatbush was a bit of an eyesore. There are other new developments around the arena, including two apartment towers 33 and 22 stories that are part of Pacific Park, formerly Atlantic Yards. A eight story apartment building across Dean Street from Barclays is nearing completion.
