Quincy Acy became the first 10-day contract of the 2016-17 season Tuesday. The Nets announced the signing mid-afternoon, adding that he will be available for the Nets vs. Hawks game hours later. He will wear No. 13.
Acy had been playing with the Texas Legends of the D-League, where he’s been averaging 17.3 points and 8 rebounds while shooting nearly 40 percent from three, improving on what has been his biggest issue since being drafted in 2012.
He played six games but only 48 minutes with the Mavericks earlier this year, being cut in mid-November.
The Nets are Acy’s sixth team in five years. His best season came two years ago with the Knicks when averaged 5.9 points and 4.4 rebounds over 68 games, including 22 starts.
Acy will earn $61,000 over the course of the 10-day (which will be deducted from the Nets salary cap). Brooklyn can sign him for a second 10-day after that, but at the end of that second 10-day decided whether to keep him.
Acy replaced Anthony Bennett, who the Nets waived Monday, eating more than a half million in salary.
