Adrian Wojnarowski first reported that the Nets and Hornets are both pursuing Charlotte free agent Marvin Williams, the 30-year-old power forward. Then, not long after, he corrected the earlier report. The Nets were out of the Williams sweepstakes.
Here's the first tweet
Sources: So far, the delay in getting Marvin Williams' deal complete with Charlotte: The Brooklyn Nets' pursuit of the free agent forward.

Mike Mazzeo then tweeted that he had heard the same thing...
Brooklyn is indeed interested in Charlotte free agent F Marvin Williams, as @WojVerticalNBA earlier reported. https://t.co/9vHfhCAqQ9

However, a few minutes after his first tweet, Woj said the Nets were out of contention...
Sources: Brooklyn is out of the running on free agent Marvin Williams, who continues to discuss parameters of a deal to return to Charlotte.

And that, apparently, is that.
According to an earlier report, Williams is seeking $38 million over two years. Williams started 81 games for the Hornets, averaging 11.7 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting better than 40 percent from deep.
Drafted No. 2 in the 2005 Draft, Williams has played with Atlanta, who drafted him, and Utah as well as Charlotte. Charlotte who had eight free agents at the end of the season has already lost Jeremy Lin to the Nets and signed Nicolas Batum to a five year, $120 million contract.
