Are the Nets looking at a Kris Humphries reunion?

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Brooklyn Nets are active -- like, really, really active -- as the start of 2016 NBA free agency hit this morning. After getting a Jeremy Lin deal done, among other contacts, workouts and rumors. Among those rumors and reports is one from Shams Charania of The Vertical who is reporting that the Nets are one of 8-10 teams who have reached out to power forward Kris Humphries.

Of course, as you recall, Humphries played for the Nets from 2009-2013. His tenure with the Brooklyn Nets came to a bit of a rocky close, thanks in big part to his marriage to Kim Kardashian and him playing in the biggest market in the world. A clean slate later, and a connection to head coach Kenny Atkinson, who coached him with the Hawks last season, the Nets seem to be at least looking at the prospect of bringing him back.

You have to believe, though, with this many teams interested, the Nets will be cautious in making sure they don't send him a blank check -- at least not as they look for a lean and young rebuild.

Welcome to the 2016 NBA free agency period!
