Las Vegas Summer League Schedule: Brooklyn Nets open up against the Champs

New, comments
Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The Brooklyn Nets will play in the Las Vegas Summer League in July, and will not, for the first time in a decade, play in Orlando's Summer League.

On Tuesday, the NBA released the schedule for the LVSL and, wouldn't you know, the Nets open up against the World Champs! Well, you know, their Summer League team.

The Nets will play on Saturday, July 9, against the Cleveland Cavaliers at 1:30 PM. Then, they'll play Monday, July 11, against the Atlanta Hawks at 1:30PM and Tuesday, July 12, against the Washington Wizards at 1:00 PM. Yup, all early games.

Should they be one of the bottom seeds -- 9 through 24 -- they will then play in the first part of the tournament knockout round on Wednesday, July 13. Should they advance -- or be among the top 8 seeds -- they will play on Thursday, July 14, and so on, with the Finals being July 18.

All games will be broadcast on NBA TV.  And unlike Orlando, the games are open to the public (road trip?)

Naturally, we still don't know the Nets roster for Summer League, but you can be sure that guys like Chris McCullough, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Sean Kilpatrick as likely players on the roster. They've also reportedly extended an invite to Josh Magette, who led the D-League in assista and steals last season. And, of course, whoever they draft on Thursday night will be added, unless either injured or committed to FIBA play..
