Brooklyn Nets hire Kevin Durant's former trainer as player development director

With Purpose training

David Aldridge reports the Nets have hired Kevin Durant's former personal trainer.

Harrington will be director of player development and assistant coach for the Nets. He has referred to himself in the past as a "shooting specialist" and "skills trainer."

He has spent the past several years building With Purpose Training, working with various NBA and NCAA athletes. After competing collegiately at both North Carolina State and Auburn University, Harrington spent eight seasons playing with Dallas and Denver in the NBA as well as teams in China, Spain, Israel, Germany, Croatia, France, and Poland.  He also played for D-League teams in Tulsa and Springfield, Massachusetts.

Harrington, in addition to having been KD's trainer, is also a personal friend.  Two years ago, for example, he accompanied Durant and his spiritual guide, Carl Lentz of Hillsong Church in Manhattan, to Montana. In an interview in 2014, Harrington said he travels with Durant two to three weeks a month, including workouts during the season, off the court mentoring, film breakdown and "just doing life together"

With the hiring of Harrington, Kenny Atkinson's coaching staff now includes Jacque Vaughn, former head coach of the Magic; Jordan Ott, who worked with Atkinson in Atlanta and Harrington.
