Ferrell, McCullough lead Long Island to third win

Yogi Ferrell was back in Long Island Wednesday, not an assignee from the Nets, but as a free agent and he used the opportunity to show off his skillset and value. Ferrell finished with 25 points on 10-of-17 points, (5-of-8 from three) shooting to lead the young Nets to their third win at Barclays Center. He also had six assists in 36 minutes.

He was joined in the spotlight by Chris McCullough, who keeps improving with Long Island. McCullough had 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting (2-of-3 from three) to go along with 12 rebounds. McCullough is now averaging an even 20 points and 8.8 rebounds. His three point shooting average is now over 35 percent as well.

Donnie McGrath, back from a serious illness, had another double-digit assist game, handing out 12 to go with 11 points. Trahson Burrell finished just two rebounds shy of his latest double-double, and Mike Scott, the Hawks forward rehabbing from injury in the D-League, finished with 17. His rights are held by the Hawks, but was assigned to Long Island because Atlanta has no D-League affiliate.

The real star was Ferrell, who played both guard spots and dominated in the second half. Ferrell made seven consecutive shots for Long Island in the third and his the dagger in the fourth, a floater in the lane with 1:33 left.

Ferrell was waived last week to make room for Spencer Dinwiddie who the Nets called up from the Windy City Bulls. Previously on the Nets roster, Ferrell can now be signed by any NBA team with a roster opening.
