For four years, Anheuser-Busch was the official “pour” of the Brooklyn Nets, with themed bars at Barclays Center. No more. Sports Business Journal reports that Corona Modelo and Ballast Point will replace A-B in three locations.
The Corona Extra Beach House Bar, slated for the arena’s main concourse, replaces an A-B-branded bar and will be the only place in New York City where Corona, long America’s top-selling imported beer, will be available on draft. Ballast Point also will have a branded bar on the main concourse. Casa Modelo, a branded Modelo Especial bar, which the brewer described as a ‘fusion of Brooklyn Mexican imagery and decor,” will be on the upper concourse.
The beers are all part of Mexico’s Constellation Brands. Said Brett Yormark, “They’re going to activate the Nets and the Barclays Center throughout the marketplace, so aside from a nice financial commitment, that’s what really got us excited about this deal.”
It was one of two deals Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment, Mikhail Prokhorov’s parent company, announced in the past few days. New York Community Bank has been confirmed as the naming rights partner for Nassau Coliseum and the planned 77-acre retail and entertainment “village” surrounding the arena which will include a nightclub, which will be called "NYCB Live.". The venue’s official name will change to “The New Coliseum Presented by New York Community Bank.”
The coliseum will become home to the Long Island Nets for the 2017-18 season. It is scheduled to reopen next April with a Billy Joel concert. The L.I. Nets also announced that like the parent club, their official hospital and medical director will be the Hospital for Special Surgery.
After renovation, the arena will also have 13,500 seats for basketball and 14,500 for concert configurations (with the ability to flex up). The bowl will have a theater seating option for 4,000 guests.
