The Long Island Nets released their training camp roster Tuesday and there were few if any surprises. The 16-man roster includes three players cut by Brooklyn, five draft picks from Sunday’s D-League Drafts, another five from August’s expansion draft as well as three who impressed at the Nets’ local tryouts.
At least three of them have NBA experience: Carrick Felix, a 6’6” shooting guard who played briefly for the Cavaliers; Gary Forbes, a 6’7” forward who played with the Nuggets and Raptors; and Lazar Hayward, a 6’6” small forward who played for the Thunder and Timberwolves.
The three affiliate players from the Brooklyn Nets are Beau Beech, Yogi Ferrell and Egidijus Mockevicius, all of whom have partial guarantees.
Training camp begins Tuesday and runs through Tuesday, November 8. Practices will be held at HSS Training Center and St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn.
The Long Island Nets and Westchester Knicks will face each other at the Westchester Civic Center on November 9 before flying to Chicago where they will play the Bulls’ expansion team, the Windy City Bulls, on November 11. The home opener at Barclays will be November 23 vs. the Canton Charge.
In addition to the new players, the Nets have hired Shanice Johnson, formerly of the Westchester Knicks, as their trainer.
