Long Island Nets uniforms NetsDaily

Now that the season has begun, the dates come fast and furious. A number of deadlines are approaching.

Also, October also marks an acceleration in planning for the Long Island Nets. The D-League draft is October 30, and the season begins 12 days later. A number of players taken in the D-League expansion draft are already working out at the HSS Training Center. The L.I. Nets will also be inviting players from their local tryouts. Look as well for promotional events on the island, although the team won’t play at Nassau Coliseum for another season. They’ll play at Barclays this season.

October 11 -- Nets at Heat in preseason game at American Airlines Arena, 7:30 p.m.

October 13 -- Nets vs. Celtics in preseason game at Barclays Center, 7:30 p.m.

October 17 -- Nets at Celtics in preseason game at TD Garden, 7:30 p.m.

October 20 -- Nets vs. Knicks in preseason game at Barclays Center, 7:30 p.m.

October 21 -- NBA Preseason ends

October 24 -- Rosters set for NBA Opening Day, also known as "cutdown day." If he makes the team, Chase Budinger’s non-guaranteed deal becomes fully guaranteed at $1.31 million.

October 26 -- Nets open 2016-17 season in Boston vs. Celtics. 7:30 p.m.

October 28 -- Nets home opener at Barclays Center vs. the Pacers. 7:30 p.m.

October 28 — D-League teams must submit training camp rosters (minus players to be drafted) to the league office.

October 30 — D-League draft. 2p.m. This is a conference call affair, nothing like the big league's extravaganza. The draft will go eight rounds but teams can opt out after five.

October 31 -- Deadline for Nets to extend Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Chris McCullough for 2017-18. A no-brainer. Both are expected to be extended.

October 31 -- NBA D-League training camps open

November 1-9 -- NBA D-League Preseason games (exact dates, locations, TBD)

November 10 — NBA D-League 10-man opening day rosters set by 5 p.m.

November 11 - Long Island Nets open their inaugural season vs. Windy City Bulls in Hoffman Estates, IL. 8:00 p.m. ET. All D-League games are covered live on the league's YouTube Channel.

November 23 -- Long Island Nets home opener at Barclays Center vs. Canton Charge, 1:30 p.m. ET

December 15 — Players signed during off-season can now, for the first time, be traded. That would include Jeremy Lin, Trevor Booker, Justin Hamilton, Luis Scola, Greivis Vasquez, Randy Foye, Joe Harris and Anthony Bennett (as well as Yogi Ferrell, Egidijus Mockevicius and Beau Beech, if they’re still with the team.)

December 15 -- NBA and players union have until today to decide whether to opt out of the Collective Bargaining Agreement one year early. With Woj reporting the two sides are finalizing a deal, this may be a meaningless deadline.

December 26 — No-trade restrictions lift on Chase Budinger and Jorge Gutierrez, again if they’re still with the team.

January 5 -- 10-day contracts may now be signed

January 10 — All contracts are guaranteed for the remainder of the season. If Jorge Gutierrez, Yogi Ferrell, Egidijus Mockevicius or Beau Beech are still with the big club, their deals get guaranteed.
