Mitch Lawrence, late of the Daily News and now with Sporting News, throws out this possibility Thursday...
GM Billy King is conceding privately what we all know: The Nets aren’t making the playoffs. So it’s time to start breaking up the team. So far, Charlotte has called to try to deal for Bojan Bogdanovic, the team’s top 3-point marksman, Sporting News has learned. If Joe Johnson doesn’t get moved at the deadline, he’s seen as a prime candidate for a buyout.
Earlier this season, ESPN suggested that the Nets were marketing Bogdanovic around, which the Nets roundly and aggressively denied. Who might the Hornets offer in return? They do have a back-up point guard making $1.4 million less than Bogdanovic ... who the Nets have had interest in ... Jeremy Lin.
Expect more nuggets like this over the next six weeks. February 18 is the trade deadline.
