Update: Joe Johnson will play against the Raptors.
Joe Johnson is 34 years old, and he's averaging 34-plus minutes per game for the 10-24 Nets. For even the untrained eye, the basketball novice, it would seem as if he needs some time off. Well, that time off may come on Wednesday night when the Brooklyn Nets take on DeMar DeRozan and the first place Toronto Raptors.
Johnson is currently listed as Questionable, due to a "left thigh contusion", for Wednesday night.
Lionel Hollins has been giving Johnson rest of late, as the supremely talented Mike Mazzeo noted.
"Joe didn't practice two days ago or two days before that. I'm trying to rest him when I can. He's playing a lot of minutes, and it's been working. Joe's feeling fresh when he comes to the game -- and light minutes in practice for Brook (Lopez), light minutes in practice for Thad (Young). It's really tough when you're playing every other day and trying to balance getting work in and getting rest as well."
We'll keep you updated as more comes in.
The Nets and Raptors tip off at 7:30 PM on Wednesday.
