Wayne Ellington, his father's memory fresh, supports President's call for gun control

In a tweet Thursday, Wayne Ellington joined many of his NBA colleagues in supporting President Obama's call for new gun control measures ...

But unlike his colleagues, for Ellington, it was highly personal.  Ellington’s father, Wayne Ellington Sr., was shot in the head while sitting in his red Oldsmobile on a Philadelphia street in November 2014. The man charged in the killing is awaiting trial.

Ellington told Newsday last year that his father’s death shook up his world.

"You grow up as a man," said Ellington.. "I feel like I definitely took some steps in the right direction after things happened with my father."
