Deadlines and Commitments No. 68

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Media Day is now less than two weeks away and things look settled, at least for now.  There's a possibility of a late roster add --there's been one late signing in each of the last two years, but it could be the addition of Dahtay Jones was the final off-season move.

Other than that, it's all about watching to see how far Italy can go in Eurobasket ... and waiting for Media Day, then the opening of camp at Duke.

September 16 -- Italy and Andrea Bargnani faces Lithuania in Eurobasket at Lille, France. If Italy loses, it will play one more game Thursday as FIBA seeds the final eight teams.  If they win, they get to the Final Four and Bargnani won't be headed to New York until after the weekend.

September 20 -- Eurobasket finals in Lille, France. Only a week or so before the Nets open camp.  The Final Four teams play, two for the championship, two for third place.

September 28 -- Media Day, at Barclays Center, the first official gathering for the new roster.

September 29 -- Brown's salary is fully guaranteed for the season at $845,000.

September 29 -- Training camp opens at the Michael W. Krzyzewski Center at Duke. For the first five days of camp, the team will work out and practice far away from the bright lights of New York, just like they did two years ago.  Teams can bring 20 players to camp. The Nets now have 18.

October 5 -- First preseason game, Nets vs. Fenerbahce Ulker of Istanbul. Bojan Bogdanovic vs. Bogdan Bogdanovic, 7:30 p.m.

October 8 -- Nets vs. Pistons preseason game in Detroit, 7:30 p.m.

October 10 -- Nets vs. 76ers preseason game in Albany, NY, 3:00 p.m.

October 14 -- Nets vs. Celtics preseason game at Barclays Center, 7:30 p.m.

October 18 -- Nets vs. 76ers preseason game at Barclays Center, 1:00 p.m.

October 19 -- Nets vs. Celtics preseason game at TD Garden, 7:30 p.m.

October 24 -- Expiration day for a $1,120,920 trade exception the Nets received for sending Marquis Teague to the 76ers on October 25 of last year.

October 24 -- Last day non- and partially guaranteed deals can be cut without incurring pro-rated cap hit.

October 26 -- Roster cutdown day. NBA teams must get down to 15. Normally, at least one cut is made prior to cutdown day.

October 28 -- Opening Night, Nets vs. Bulls at Barclays Center, 7:30 p.m.

October 28 -- If they're still on the roster ... Quincy Miller receives a guaranteed $100,000 bringing his total to $150,000; Ryan Boatright receives $125,000, bringing his total to $200,000; and Willie Reed's deal becomes fully guaranteed at $947,000.

October 30 -- Nets vs. Spurs at ATT Center, San Antonio. It will be the Spurs home opener! 8:30 p.m.

October 31 -- Nets vs. Grizzlies, FedEx Forum, Memphis, 8:00 p.m.

October 31 -- Nets must decide on Sergey Karasev's fourth year option, at $2.5 million. Decision likely to be made before the deadline.

November 1 -- If he's still on the team, Donald Sloan gets $200,000 guarantee.  If cut before this, he receives $50,000.

November 2 -- Nets vs. Bucks, Barclays Center, 7:30 p.m.  The return of Sean Sweeney.

November 15 -- If he's still on the team, Quincy Miller gets an additional $125,000 guarantee, giving him a grand total of $275,000.

December 12 -- Two trade exceptions, including the Nets biggest one expire. They are the $3,326,235 TE acquired in the Andrei Kirilenko trade and the $816,482 TE acquired in the Jorge Gutierrez trade.  For trade purposes, another $100,000 can be added to any TE's value. TE's cannot be combined, but under certain circumstances can be used to facilitate multi-player, multi-team deals.

December 15 -- All free agents signed during the off-season other than Brook Lopez can be traded.

January 10 -- All partially guaranteed contracts get fully guaranteed.

January 15 -- Brook Lopez and his max deal can be traded. NOT likely
