The Nets have always emphasized the importance of the Brooklyn community. With kind gestures to fans and locals, the organization has made it a point to be involved in a "neighborly" way. Their summer slogan is "We Are Neighbors."
The latest gesture came when Brooklyn's very own, Susannah Mushatt Jones, turned 116 years old on Monday -- becoming Brooklyn's -- and the world's -- oldest person. Petra Pope, Nets' Senior Vice President of Event Marketing & Community Relations, presented Jones with a custom white Brooklyn Nets jersey with "Miss Susie" in black lettering along with the number 116.

Born in 1899, Jones was also awarded with a certificate from the Guiness Book of World Records. However, we'd like to think the real prize is the custom jersey.
