Rondae Hollis-Jefferson excels but Nets go 0-5 in Orlando

Brooklyn Nets

As the news of Deron Williams buyout was breaking in national media, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was giving those who watched a taste of what he can do down the road.

RHJ had a double-double, with 22 points and 11 rebounds as well as five assists and four steals in 40 minutes as the Nets lost to the Hornets summer league team, 82-73. He shot 3-of-9 from three, looking confident and surprising the NBA announcers.  Ryan Boatright had a good game as well, scoring 24 points and dishing out seven assists.  Cliff Alexander had his best game as a summer league, finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Nets finished 0-5 and now move on to Las Vegas where they play Saturday night.  .

The Nets had only six players in Orlando, most of the others having moved on to Vegas. One player, Jonathon Simmons, who played well for the Nets, signed a guaranteed deal with San Antonio.  Simmons played the last two seasons with the Spurs' D-League affiliate.

The Nets kept it close during the late third and early fourth, playing their best game despite the short bench. However, a late run, driven by P.J. Hairston (18) and Frank Kaminsky, (19) was the difference. The Nets play the Cavaliers Saturday night at 10 p.m., 1 a.m. ET.  The game will be televised on NBA TV.
