John Welch, Nets assistant, leaves Brooklyn for Sacramento

It's official.  John Welch, the Nets respected offensive coach under both Jason Kidd and Lionel Hollins, is leaving Brooklyn for Sacramento, where he will rejoin his old boss, George Karl, who he had worked with in Denver for nearly a decade.

Scott Howard-Cooper of reported that Welch's new deal was likely and Mike Mazzeo tweeted Friday that it's  a done deal.

NetsDaily confirmed the news.

Welch ran the offense for Kidd and Hollins but was also largely responsible for player development.  Fans may recall Welch's pre-game workouts with Joe JohnsonJoe Wolf, the Nets big man coach, was reportedly in contention for a college coaching job at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay but did not get the job.
