Nets waive Ryan Boatright, Quincy Miller and Chris Daniels

The Brooklyn Nets have waived Ryan Boatright, Quincy Miller and Chris Daniels, leaving 17 players, with 13 fully guaranteed, on the roster. The Nets' two other camp invites, Justin Harper and Dahntay Jones, remain on the roster (for now) with Donald Sloan and Willie Reed fighting for a spot as well.

Lionel Hollins wouldn't commit to any players after the final preseason, citing the opportunity is enough to be grateful for. "This is what it's all about opportunity," he said, talking about opportunity. "I mean they work hard and do well in practice and you're happy to give them opportunities to go in the game and whether they can make our team or not is irrelevant. It's about earning the right to be on the court and being seen by everyone in the league and overseas or wherever."

Ryan Boatright averaged four points and four assists in 14 minutes per game. Boatright is an undersized speedy guard with decent vision, but with Shane Larkin and Sloan as potential backup's to Jarrett Jack, there wasn't enough room for Boatright on the roster.

Chris Daniels, a 7'0" center, looked decent in the two games where he played 20+ minutes, scoring 14 points against Boston and 10 against Philly. But in another game, he picked up four fouls in three minutes. His chances were slim from the start, but perhaps he's most likely headed overseas where he's been all of his career.

Quincy Miller who barely played in the preseason, despite a decent upside with ability to stretch the floor and play like a small forward at 6"9'. He appeared in just four preseason games and averaged 7.5 minutes per contest.

If Boatright and Miller are NOT claimed they will fall into the NBA D-League pool. If they aren't claimed, either have the option to play in Europe or China. David Pick, the European hoops writer, tweeted that Miller already has a new destination.

The Nets will need to make two more cuts by October 26 in order to reach the league maximum of 15 players per roster.
